How to Clean Unsightly Hard Water Build-up in Your Bathroom

Dealing with hard water can be a challenge, especially when it comes to cleaning your shower. Hard water can leave mineral deposits on your shower fixtures, walls and doors, making them look dull, dirty and even white. Fortunately, there are a few easy steps you can take to clean hard water out of your shower and restore its shine.

Gather Your Supplies:

  • a spray bottle

  • white vinegar

  • baking soda

  • a scrub brush

  • a squeegee

  • a microfiber cloth or towel.

The first step is to make a vinegar solution. Fill an empty spray bottle with equal parts water and white vinegar. This solution will help dissolve the mineral buildup on your shower walls and doors.

Spray the vinegar solution on your shower fixtures, walls and doors, making sure to cover all areas affected by hard water buildup. Let the solution sit for 10 to 15 minutes to allow the vinegar to dissolve the mineral deposits.

Next, sprinkle some baking soda on a scrub brush and use it to scrub the shower walls and doors. Baking soda is a gentle abrasive that can help remove any remaining mineral deposits and stains. Be sure to scrub gently to avoid damaging your shower surfaces.

After scrubbing, rinse the shower walls and doors with water. Use a squeegee to remove excess water and prevent mineral buildup. Repeat the process if necessary to remove all the mineral buildup.

If your shower head is still clogged or covered with hard water spots, fill a plastic bag with the vinegar solution. Attach the bag to the shower head with a rubber band, hair elastic, zip tie, etc. Let the solution work for another 10-15 minutes and rinse.

Finally, dry your shower walls and doors with a microfiber cloth or towel. This will help prevent water spots and keep your shower looking clean and shiny.

Cleaning hard water out of your shower doesn't have to be a difficult task. With the right supplies and a little elbow grease, you can easily remove mineral buildup and restore your shower's shine.
